You are invited to attend a one-day Enhanced Steward training for all Local 302 Stewards and Local Executives. This full-day event is intended to build steward confidence and solidarity. The day is also a chance for stewards to get to know each other, the opportunity to discuss problems specific to Local 302 and to share strategies for addressing worksite issues.

Location: BCGEU Office, 106-1650 Terminal Ave North, Nanaimo
(Please park in designated BCGEU parking spots.)
You will not lose any pay as we pay your wage for the day, and your lunch is covered as well as any mileage and/or hotel, meals or childcare you may incur. You are an important part of the Union and training is important to properly represent your members.

Steward Fundamentals is a two-day foundation-level course for all stewards. It focusses on the essential skills every steward needs to know. Through discussion and interactive group activities, you will be introduced to the key roles and responsibilities of a steward as advocate, educator, organizer and communicator. Stewards will leave feeling more confident and effective in their role and skillful in their interactions with members and the employer.
This course is for elected stewards and local officers who have not previously taken the Steward Fundamentals course in the past six years. We recommend that stewards and local officers take the one-day STEP UP! course before taking Steward Fundamentals or review the online STEP UP! course materials at https://learn.bcgeu.ca before attending.
· A union-paid leave-of-absence is provided for this course.
· Travel, meals and accommodation, if required, are also provided.
· Reasonable child and/or other dependent care expenses may be reimbursed.

The Area 04 Cross Component invites you and your family for a cultural and carnival celebration taking place at our Fraser Valley Office!

The goal of this event is to bring together the rich ethnic diversity of BCGEU members by celebrating and integrating cultures amongst us along with all the fun of Summer Carnival games. The Day will feature lunch, entertainment, cultural booths, face painting, games and much more.
The event will be open to all BCGEU members and their families.
Local Leadership is a foundation course for new and experienced local executive members. This course focuses on planning, member engagement and building strong locals.
You can request a union-paid leave of absence from your employer for this training. We will send you a leave-of-absence form to submit to your supervisor.
