Steward Fundamentals is a two-day foundation-level course for new Area 03 Stewards or Area 03 Stewards who have not taken the course within the past six years. It focuses on the essential skills every steward needs to know. Through discussion and interactive group activities, you will be introduced to the key roles and responsibilities of a steward as advocate, educator, organizer, and communicator. Stewards will leave feeling more confident, effective in their role, and skillful in their interactions with members and the employer.
This course is for Area 03 elected Stewards, and Local Officers who have not previously taken the Steward Fundamentals Training.
A union-paid leave-of-absence (LOA) is provided for this course. If you require a LOA, please provide how many hours you are scheduled to work per shift on the registration form. Lunch will be provided, please advise of dietary restrictions and/or allergies.

Join BCGEU local leaders in Local Leadership, an in-person course focused on planning, member engagement and building strong locals. A leave-of-absence is provided for this course and reasonable expenses are reimbursed according to union policy.
A three-day mandatory training session for Local Officers in Locals 302, 502, and 1202 will be held:

TIME: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
LOCATION: Nanaimo Area Office (#106 – 1650 Terminal Ave N, free parking included)
REGISTRATION: Register before February 22, 2026
Note: You will be on your own for Lunch for all 3 days and expenses can be claimed on an expense claim form via the member portal.
