    Labour Code OHS Incident Investigations



    An incident happens at your work place and you suddenly get a call to participate in an investigation. What do you do? What is the purpose of an investigation? What is required? This course will answer all these questions and provide you with the opportunity to improve you're investigative skills.



    In this course you will learn:


    •The legislative requirements for conducting accident/incident investigations


    •How to get to the contributing factors by conducting effective witness interviews and examining physical evidence


    •How to assess the evidence in order to recommend effective corrective measures



    8 hours of annual OH&S committee education, to be paid by the employer, is legally required under the Workers Compensation Act (Division 4, Section 135) and collective agreements.

    File This! BCGEU Administrative Services Conference

    Are you a BCGEU member who works in an office environment providing administrative services OR provides frontline service to the public in an administrative role?

     If the answer is yes, you may be eligible to attend File This!, a BCGEU education conference for members who work in administrative services.

     From: Sunday, October 1, 2017 - Tuesday, October 3, 2017 

    Where: Pacific Gateway Hotel, 3500 Cessna Dr, Richmond, B.C.

     Preference will be given to new activists and those BCGEU members who've not previously attended a conference and want to take the next step, and those who've had minimal education opportunities. 

     The conference will feature guest speakers and workshops. Topics are expected to include stress management and occupational health and safety, ergonomics, bullying & harassment, conflict resolution, the challenges of overwork and time management.

     If you are selected to attend, the BCGEU will cover the costs of your leave of absence from work (LOA), travel, accommodation, childcare (if required), and other incidentals.
