  • Closed - Area 05 2-Day Steward Fundamentals

    Steward Fundamentals is a two-day foundation-level course for all stewards. It focusses on the essential skills every steward needs to know. Through discussion and interactive group activities, you will be introduced to the key roles and responsibilities of a steward as advocate, educator, organizer and communicator. Stewards will leave feeling more confident and effective in their role and skillful in their interactions with members and the employer.

    This course is for elected stewards and local officers who have not previously taken the Steward Fundamentals course in the past six years.

    We recommend that stewards and local officers take the one-day STEP UP! course before taking Steward Fundamentals or review the online STEP UP! course materials at https://learn.bcgeu.ca before attending.

     A union-paid leave-of-absence is provided for this course.

     Travel, meals and accommodation, if required, are also provided.

     Reasonable child and/or other dependent care expenses may be reimbursed.

    Stewards will leave feeling more confident, effective in their role and skillful in their interactions with members and the Employer.

    For your Leave Of Absence (LOA) please give us your paid hours, not the times you work, and if you have premiums.

    If you are from out of town please let us know if you will need a hotel the night before the course.

  • Local 305 and 1305 Enhanced Steward Training

    This advanced training is for Local 305 and 1305 Stewards and Local Executive.

    Stewards will leave feeling more confident, effective in their role and skillful in their interactions with members and the Employer.

    There will be a special guest Anjeanette Dawson (Indigenous education officer) who will facilitate in the following topics: 

    Pre-contact (what types of resources did Indigenous people have available prior to contact, housing, transportation, culture, language, plants, medicine may be a part of it) Colonization, (timeline of events during colonization and the impacts) Residential School (the history of what the children experienced when attending Residential School, and the impacts, how many schools were in Canada, the apprehension of the children)

    Lunch will be provided so please list your dietary restrictions.

    For your Leave Of Absence (LOA) please give us your paid hours, not the times you work, and if you have a shift differential.

    If you are from out of town please let us know if you will need a hotel the night before the course.

    We invite you to attend the Annual General Meeting for Local 2004, scheduled for 6-8pm on Thursday, May 21. The meeting will be held at the Fraser Valley Area Office (8555 198A St, Langley - Chehalis Room) and can also be attended remotely. For those attending the meeting in person, dinner will be provided.

    This is a fun for all Best Ball Tournament. Teams will be organized into groups of four (4) players.

    In the "Additional Information Field", please note whether you would like to be placed on a team, or if there are specific people you would like to golf with please provide their names so that we can create the teams.

    Just a reminder that golf clubs & cart rentals are at your own expense. Rentals are limited, and are on a first come first serve basis, so we suggest that you contact the Golf Course directly to reserve . 

  • Area 10 Activist Appreciation Dinner

    Your Cross Component Committee invites you and a guest to attend the Annual Activist Appreciation Dinner being held at the Tumbler Ridge Golf & Country Club. This year's event also includes a fun best ball golf tournament! You are welcome to attend the golf tournament and dinner, or if you'd prefer, you may attend the dinner only or golf tournament only. Please note your preference in the "Additional Information Field".

    Once you have submitted this RSVP, you will receive a separate link in your RSVP Confirmation email where you will need to provide your golf tournament registration (names of people you would like to golf with, or if you would like to be placed on a team). 

    As noted in the invititation, golf clubs & cart rentals are at your own expense. Please note that rentals are limited, so we suggest that you contact the Golf Course directly to reserve. However, as this is a fun tournament, folks may need to share clubs if they don't have their own.
