You are invited to the next Local 103 General Meeting on Tuesday January 28 at 6pm which will be focused on bargaining updates and Local 103 elections.
Component bargaining will occur the week of January 13-19 and an update will be provided at the meeting. Main Public Service bargaining dates are scheduled for February.
On the day after our general meeting, January 29, nominations will open for the Local 103 executive elections. Your union local is made up of members that are part of the same industry group, called a component, that live and work in one geographic area. Your local is the building block of the democratic structure of the entire BCGEU.
A well-run local is the best protection for workers and ensures that any problems at a worksite are dealt with as smoothly as possible. In the best run locals, there is a close relationship between stewards, worksites, and the component and provincial executive as information flows between the various elected representatives of our union.
Every three years our union holds elections for positions on all local executives. Our next round of elections will be held in the first months of 2025. Elections will be conducted by secret online ballot, with each member of the local getting one vote. It is important that members register their personal emails with the BCGEU member portal to ensure that you get your voting credentials.
More information regarding the election and its timelines will be provided at the meeting. You can learn more about the Local Elections process on this website page.
The full January 28 general membership meeting agenda can be found below.
This will be a hybrid meeting occurring both in person and online, with zoom meeting details available below. The Zoom meeting will be opened shortly before 6pm.
