So much is expected of you when you work on the frontlines

Our bodies respond instinctively when we feel challenged: the neck or jaw tightens. The stomach gets queasy. Physical discomfort requires physical strategies. This training offers simple techniques to get you and your body working together so you can handle the challenge and communicate effectively in a way that feels better.

Come prepared to ignite your curiosity and to explore new ways of taking care of yourself, especially in those tough moments.

Learning objectives:

  • To experience tuning into automatic cues at an earlier stage of feeling uneasy.
  • To practice a variety of effortless tools you can use right in the challenging moment that helps you think clearly and feel better.

A light supper will be served at this workshop.

Shayna Hornstein is an adult educator, a body-focused counselor and registered physical therapist. Her workshops improve resilience and communication skills. In her clinical practice, she helps people lessen the impact that stress has on our bodies. She loves supporting BCGEU members who do important work in our communities. Participants report that Shayna's workshops offer skills you can use in your personal as well as work life. While the focus of these sessions are different, in each of them we'll be exploring how our human instincts can be channeled to serve us so that our brain and body work more comfortably together.
