The Covid pandemic has made it more difficult to deliver face-to-face steward training, but we are pleased to continue offering our Steward Basics webinar while the union slowly resumes in-person course scheduling. This webinar is for you if you are a steward but have not yet attended our Steward Fundamentals course or need a refresher.

By the end of this webinar, you will understand:

  • your rights and responsibilities as a steward
  • how to get started as a steward
  • the grievance procedure
  • how to handle disciplinary grievances

This does not replace our in-person STEP UP! and Steward Fundamentals courses. As these in-person courses and workshops continue to become available in greater volume, you will be invited to register for them.

To join this online training, you will need:

  • a computer with internal audio or external speakers, a microphone, and a built-in camera
  • a high-speed internet connection
  • a relatively quiet space, a pad of paper and a pen, and a copy of your collective agreement

You can request a union-paid leave of absence from your employer for this training. We will send you a leave-of-absence form to submit to your supervisor. Please note that most members will be entitled to take two half-day leaves of absence in order to complete each of the two half-day webinar sessions. In unique situations where an employer will only approve full-day leave requests, we will provide two full days of union-paid leave in order for you to participate in the course.

As space is limited, registrations are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sorry, this event is sold out.
