Note: You are entitled to a minimum of 08 hours of annual OH&S training, as mandated by the Workers' Compensation Act and your Collective Agreement. Please ensure that you have approval from your employer prior to applying for this EMPLOYER PAID training. We are unable to provide a union paid LOA for this course.

Please note that some BCGEU Covid-19 protocols remain in place. Please do not attend courses if you are ill.

The use of high-quality masks continues to be required in common areas of all BCGEU buildings. Upon arrival, BCGEU members will be provided with KN95 masks for use during the course. Employer representatives or members of other unions will need to bring their own KN95, N95 or equivalent mask.

Mask usage will be optional in meetings, however if one participant asks for masks to be worn, all in attendance will comply.

As you know, Covid-19 public health measures are regularly updated, so more changes to the requirements for our courses may occur in the weeks and months to come. We will do our best to keep you informed and up to date. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].

Women's Health and Safety in the Workplace (NEW!)
This course is open to all genders
All workers face health and safety issues at work but many of these issues affect women in particular ways. This course provides participants with the opportunity to develop their ability to identify, assess and control workplace hazards from a woman's perspective. Please ensure that you are a union appointed committee member, and that you have taken the prerequisite Basic Committee Training course prior to registering for this course.

In this course, you will learn:

How women's physical and psychological health is affected by toxic workplace substances, work design, and work organization. Workplace stressors such as inequity, domestic and gender based violence, sexual harassment, shiftwork. Human rights legislation which requires the employer to address workplace hazards that predominately affect women. Learn how pregnancy and menopause can impact women's safety at work.

Space is limited, so register early to avoid disappointment.
