Note: You are entitled to a minimum of 08 hours of annual OH&S training, as mandated by the Workers' Compensation Act and your Collective Agreement. Please ensure that you have approval from your employer prior to applying for this EMPLOYER PAID training.

Basic Committee Training – Labour Code (Non- Government)
This is an introductory course offered to union appointed committee members in the non-government sector. BCGEU Courses are also open to employer representatives. This course is a prerequisite for all other BCGEU OH&S courses. It is a must for new committee members and a refresher for those with experience.

In this course, you will learn:

4 worker rights – Right to Know, Right to Participate, Right to Refuse Unsafe Work and Right to No DiscriminationIntroduction to the Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety RegulationRoles and responsibilities of the employer, supervisor, workers and committeesHazard identification and control measuresIntroduction to workplace inspections and incident investigationsCommittee structure, job description and committee evaluations

This course is limited to 12 seats so register early to avoid disappointment.
