You are invited to The BCGEU Occupational Health and Safety Department presentation of the 2-day Mental health first Aid (MHFA) Course, certified by the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

MHFA Basic is intended for adults interacting with adults (18 years and older). This course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance related, mood related, anxiety and trauma related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces.

This course is open to all BCGEU members in the Fraser Valley (Area 04).

You must have your employer's approval to attend this two-day course.

You must attend both days of the course.

The union will provide the LOA and reasonable travel costs. Confirmation of the leave must be provided 2 weeks before the course.

Registration is on a first come first serve basis (with approved leave from your employer)

Please note that BCGEU Covid-19 protocols remain in place.

The use of high quality masks continues to be required in the common areas of all BCGEU buildings. Mask usage will be optional in meetings, however if one participant asks for masks to be worn, all in attendance will need to comply.
Upon arrival, BCGEU members will be provided with KN95 masks for use during the course.

As you know, Covid-19 public health measures are regularly updated, so more changes to the requirements for our courses may occur in the weeks and months to come. We will do our best to keep you informed and up to date.

Please note that this session is in-person only, and we are unable to host online participants. We will be looking into the possibility of scheduling online sessions at a future date.

We are committed to making our courses accessible to all learners. We provide additional supports for learners as needed, including ASL interpretation. Please contact us for more information and to make arrangements to support your participation.

We look forward to seeing you!

There is limited space for this course, please ensure that you are able to attend both days, and have your employer’s approval before registering.

There will be additional offerings of this course in the future, so if you are unable to register this time, there will be more opportunities.
