    Call for resolutions for the 51st BCGEU Constitutional Convention Election of Local 1201 delegates (33) and alternates (10) to Convention

     

    The 51st BCGEU Constitutional Convention will be taking place from Wednesday, June 10, 2020 to Saturday, June 13, 2020.

     

     

    The BCGEU's Constitutional Convention is where the BCGEU President, Treasurer and four Executive Vice Presidents are elected. Resolutions are brought forward to be voted on by the convention delegates, and if passed, set the direction and focus of your union over the next three years.

     

     

     

     

    Resolutions

     

    Resolutions are drafted by members, for members, are approved through the Local and Component. Please take the time to review the Constitution and the previous Convention's resolutions - both available when you login to members.bcgeu.ca - and provide your input. Attached is a copy of the resolution form, which should be used when submitting resolutions. Please return resolution forms to the Victoria Area Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 25, 2020 or you can bring it with you to the meeting.

     

     

     

    Delegates

     

    Delegates to convention vote on the election and on the resolutions. Delegates MUST be available to attend all days of convention. Spaces are limited, and you will be representing your local, so only those that can commit to full attendance should be nominated to attend.

     

     

     

    If you would like to run as a delegate to convention, please fill out the attached nomination form (it was emailed to members) and return it to the Victoria Area Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 25, 2020 or you can bring it with you to the meeting.

     

     

     

    Nominations for convention delegates will close at this meeting. If there are more nominations than positions, the election will take place at the meeting. Only those members present at the meeting will be able to vote.

     

     

     

    Conference call options are available - please contact the Area Office if required.

     

     

     

    Members of your local executive are available to answer any questions you may have, and we look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

  • Local 603 Meeting

    BCGEU Lower Mainland Area Office in Vancouver, BC, Canada

    The BCGEU 51st Triennial Constitutional Convention will be taking place from Wednesday, June 10 to Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver. Convention is where the BCGEU members decide who the next BCGEU President, Treasurer, and Executive Vice-Presidents will be and what the mandate of YOUR Union will be over the next three years.

     

    Meeting Agenda

    Election of 10 delegates and 3 alternates to attend the 2020 BCGEU Convention. Discuss and vote on resolutions to be referred to Component 6 for approval.

     

    Call for nominations for Convention Delegates and Alternates

    Local 603 has a delegate entitlement of 11 members. One position is held by the Local Chair by right, therefore we will be sending 10 delegates, and electing 3 alternates, in case a delegate is unable to attend, to Convention at this meeting. If you would like attend the BCGEU 2020 Convention, you must be nominated and be elected to attend. Interested members should complete the nomination form and either send it in or bring it to the meeting.

     

    Please note, in order to attend Convention, the member must in good standing, have a signed membership application card and be able to attend the entire convention from June 10 to 13, 2020 inclusive.

     

    NOTE: Members on short term or long term leave should verify that attendance to the convention will not jeopardise their benefits. Please reach out to the area office if you need assistance.

    Call for Resolutions

    Resolutions are put forward by members for members in order for your Union leadership to carry out the work on behalf of the membership. Resolutions will be discussed and voted on at the meeting before being advanced to the Component 6 resolutions committee.

    This short meeting is to elect an Alternate Delegate to the BCGEU Convention, being held in Vancouver from June 10 – 13, 2020. If you would like to submit your name for the alternate delegate position, you must attend this local meeting either in person or by conference call, or email the Area Office at area09@bcgeu.ca no later than 5PM on February 26, 2020. Your name will then be included and an election will take place at the meeting.

    This meeting is also to review and discuss any resolutions members' would like put forward to the convention. Contact area09@bcgeu.ca for the resolution form to use when submitting resolutions. If you would like to submit a resolution but are unable to attend the meeting, please email your completed form to the Area Office at the email above prior to the meeting.
