Re: Pension Workshop – PSPP plus CPP, OAS & GIS (More Spots Available)

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently not able to hold face to face workshops as we normally would. We would like to invite you to join a free online Pension Workshop. This educational session will be useful for all BCGEU members who want more information related to their Public Service Pension Plan and Government retiree programs.

WHERE: Online Zoom Meeting

DATE: Wednesday, November 25, 2020

TIME: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Please register by RSVP'ng if you wish to participate in this online pension workshop AND HAVE NOT ALREADY REGISTERED:

The deadline to register will be November 17th by 5:00 pm or when we reach capacity (whichever comes first).

All participants can call in with a phone number or log in with the Zoom app from your phone or home computer. Once you register, you will receive the Zoom instructions along with confirmation of registration. Two days prior to this workshop, Monday, November 23, you will receive an email with a link to the Zoom presentation and phone numbers if you are calling in. You will also receive a copy of the presentation and some other materials. Please watch for this email.

What's New With Pensions? Your pension, your plan, plus CPP, OAS, and GIS

· A BCGEU pension specialist will begin with an explanation on the differences between a defined benefit pension and a defined contribution pension plan-do you know what type your plan is? Learn to understand the differences in predicting retirement income under the different arrangements and why it is so important.

· You will then be given an overview of the Public Sector Pension Plan (PSPP) that Component 6 and Component 12 members participate in.

· In addition, there will be an update of the three basic government programs for the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security and the Guaranteed Income Supplement.

· See how it all ties together to provide you with a more financially secure retirement.

If you have any questions please email us at [email protected].

In solidarity
