Foundations for Building Solidarity & Racial Equity in our Union is a one-day online workshop that introduces basic concepts related to anti-racism, self-awareness, and understanding and offers some necessary groundwork for more in-depth anti-racism courses to follow. This course is an opportunity for workers to expand their understanding of diversity and inclusion and begin to identify how our lived experiences shape how we see and understand difference, particularly racial differences, at work and in our union. Through a variety of facilitated activities, you will consider a deeper, more inclusive approach to unity, solidarity, and racial equity. The overall goal is to expand our toolkit for building solidarity across difference and learn how diverse voices, experiences, and stories can help us to better organize together as workers.

This course has been developed in consultation with a working group made up of executive vice presidents, staff, and members who are Indigenous, Black and people of colour.

A union-paid leave-of-absence is provided for this course. Contact [email protected] to make a request. Reasonable child and/or other dependent care expenses may be reimbursed.

Sorry, this event is sold out.
