Re: One-day enhanced steward training / networking event on Thursday, November 22 – please RSVP!

Dear BCIT Steward,

You are invited to a one-day training and networking session for all BCGEU stewards at BCIT. The session will take place 9:00 am - 4:30 pm on Thursday, November 22 at the union office in East Vancouver.

The BCGEU believes that we need to build steward capacity at BCIT, including by providing some training and opportunities to discuss issues specific to BCIT.

The full-day event will also give stewards the opportunity to get to know each other, and to share strategies for addressing worksite issues.

Stewards from both bargaining units are invited. Both bargaining unit chairs will be in attendance.

The union will provide one-day paid union leave to attend this course, and a catered lunch will be provided.

Broadway Tech Centre, #130 – 2920 Virtual Way, Vancouver

(Broadway Tech Centre is located on Renfrew Street, between Grandview Highway and East Broadway in Vancouver. The 2920 Virtual Way building is close to the main entrance to the Broadway Tech Office complex main entrance, which has a Starbucks at ground level. The Renfrew Skytrain stop is kitty corner. Parking Instructions

The parking lot for 2920 Virtual Way can be found just off Hebb Avenue, which is accessed from Renfrew Street and runs parallel to the Skytrain and rail tracks, just north of Grandview Highway. Park on P2 or P3 in any stall that is not "Reserved". The Yellow Zone is the closest to our building.

At the parking meter, enter the following information:

o Enter your stall number;

o Enter the amount of time you need to park - as the Union is charged for your time, please do not book more time than you require;

o Select "Yes" when it asks if you have a coupon code;

o Enter the Coupon Code 5687. The BCGEU will be billed directly for your parking.

o Select "OK" to print the receipt and bring it with you to the meeting.

o Take the elevator to the ground "G" level to find the BCGEU office. The membership area is located to the left of the main entrance, down the long corridor. We will buzz you in.

o Please write your name, Local and the purpose of your visit on the back of your parking receipt and deposit it in the receipt box in the Members' Lounge or Reception Area.

o Please don't forget to sign in when you arrive.
