Area 08 Steward Fundamentals 2-Day Course (Cranbrook)
7th Ave South 46 Cranbrook, BC V1C Canada
Steward Fundamentals is a two-day foundation-level course for all stewards: April 4th and 5th from 9:00am to 5:00pm MT at the BCGEU East Kootenay Area Office in Cranbrook (Area 08).
To register you need to be a Shop Steward or Local Officer within Area 08 who has not previously taken the Basic Steward Training in the past five years. We recommend that stewards and local officers take the one-day STEP UP course before taking Steward Fundamentals.
Steward Fundamentals focusses on the essential skills every steward needs to know. Through discussion and interactive group activities, you will be introduced to the key roles and responsibilities of a steward as advocate, educator, organizer, and communicator. Stewards will leave feeling more confident and effective in their role and skillful in their interaction with members and the employer.
Lunch will be provided on both days. Please let the Area Office know of any dietary restrictions when you register.
If you require an LOA (leave-of-absence), please provide your total paid hours worked (exclude breaks not paid for), for each day you are scheduled to work during the training.
Travel and accommodation, if required, are also provided. For BCGEU paid hotel accommodations, the attendee's home address must be at least 100kms or more away from the Area 08 Office.
Reasonable child and/or other dependent care expenses may be reimbursed.
