Mask usage in BCGEU buildings (Updated Apr 27, 2023) :

Effective immediately, we are making a change to our building protocols regarding mask usage in our buildings.

Mask use is now optional in our buildings, including in common areas and meeting rooms.
Staff and visitors to BCGEU buildings may, of course, continue to use masks and other layers of protection based on their own comfort and risk factors. We ask that we respect others and wear masks if requested in groups.

Please be reminded that no one should attend BCGEU buildings if they have active cold or flu-like symptoms.

STEP UP! is a one-day workshop, available to any BCGEU member within Area 08 (East Kootenay), whether you're a brand-new member or you've been a member for a while.

This STEP UP! workshop will introduce you to our union and help you develop your skills and knowledge around your rights as a worker and the role your union plays in supporting workers, their families, and our communities. Through stories of courage and strength, you will gain the clarity and support you need along with some useful union tools and strategies to get started with the BCGEU. You will leave feeling more informed, confident, and ready to connect with your co-workers.

A union-paid leave-of-absence (LOA) and lunch is provided for the day of the workshop. Mileage to travel and potentially accommodation if you live more than 100 kms from the office, may also be provided.

Lunch will be provided, so please advise the area office of any dietary restrictions.
