As a "thank you" to Area 05 stewards and OHS reps for your service to the membership of our Union, you and your spouse, or guest, are cordially invited to attend our 2019 Activist Appreciation Event. We hope you will take this opportunity to enjoy a festive evening with your fellow activists, special guests, and Area Office staff.

Please note that it is BCGEU policy that where alcohol is served at an event, transportation to and from the event and/or accommodation for out of town guests, will be provided and paid for by the BCGEU - in accordance with BCGEU Financial Policy. Other costs associated with attending this Appreciation Night can be claimed in accordance with the amounts and eligible expenses indicated on the Union's Expense Claim Form. Such expense claims should be forwarded to the Kamloops BCGEU Office for approval and processing of reimbursement.

If you will require a leave of absence from work in order to attend this event, you should obtain verbal approval from your supervisor as soon as possible, while noting that the Union will provide you with the necessary paperwork for a Union-paid leave after the registration deadline. All those requiring accommodation will have rooms reserved for them at the Coast Kamloops Hotel. Please Note: If you are requesting a hotel room, please register prior to August 16, 2019. If you do not require a hotel room, please register prior to September 5, 2019.

We will not accept any late registrations.

If you need assistance with this, please contact the Area Office. Also, please let the Area Office know so that catering and other arrangements can be adjusted.

The Area 05 Cross-Component Committee would once again like to present its:

Spirit of Commitment Award

A deserving activist will receive this award at the annual Activist Appreciation Event being held on September 21, 2019. The award is intended to recognize a member in our area for demonstrating a spirit of excellence, dedication, and sacrifice in providing service to the membership and Union as a whole - the spirit and desire to make a difference.

Nominee criteria includes the following:

The nominee must be a current "active" BCGEU member. 

The nominee must have been a Steward, Local Officer, Bargaining Committee Member or Union-appointed Occupational Health & Safety Representative for a minimum of one year.

Nominators must be current members of the BCGEU or staff and must return a fully-completed Spirit of Commitment Nomination Form to the Kamloops BCGEU Office by noon on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.
