FOODSAFE Level 1 is designed for front line food workers in the food service industry (employed or volunteering) using discussion, activities, videos and a student workbook. The class teaches the basics of safe food handling and sanitation from receiving and storage to preparation and service. Certificates valid for five (5) years are issued upon successful completion of the class and a multiple choice test. Suitable for age 14 plus.

This class is facilitated by Cina Opel, Local 402 Chair, who is a Health Inspector at Island Health.

The class is free and open to BCGEU members plus one family member. Maximum number of participants for this course is 25 and cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice prevent us from offering spots to those on the waiting list.
